Installing ISPConfig on Ubuntu 18.04

ISPConfig is an open source web hosting control panel that allows you to manage multiple websites, email accounts, FTP accounts, and DNS records through a web-based interface. Step 1: Update system packages

Before installing ISPConfig, update your Ubuntu system packages to ensure you have the latest updates and security fixes. Open a terminal and run the following command:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y

Step 2: Install ISPConfig prerequisites

ISPConfig has a few prerequisites that need to be installed before the actual installation process. Install the required packages by running the following command:

sudo apt install apache2 apache2-utils libapache2-mod-php7.2 php7.2-cgi php7.2-cli php7.2-mysql php7.2-gd php7.2-mbstring php7.2-json php7.2-curl php7.2-zip php7.2-xml php7.2-soap php7.2-intl php-gettext -y

Step 3: Download ISPConfig

Next, download the ISPConfig installation file from their official website. Open a terminal and run the following commands:

cd /tmp
wget https://www.ispconfig.org/downloads/ISPConfig-3.2.5.tar.gz
tar xvf ISPConfig-3.2.5.tar.gz
cd ispconfig3_install/install/

Step 4: Install ISPConfig

To start the installation process, run the following command:

sudo php -q install.php

You will be presented with a series of prompts during the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure ISPConfig according to your needs. Once the installation is complete, you will see the message "Installation completed successfully."

Step 5: Access ISPConfig

Now that ISPConfig is installed, you can access the web-based interface by opening a browser and entering your server's IP address followed by ":8080" in the address bar. For example, http://your_server_ip:8080.

You will be prompted to create an administrator account for ISPConfig. Fill in the required information and click "Save." You can now log in to the ISPConfig control panel using the administrator account credentials.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed ISPConfig on Ubuntu 18.04. You can now start managing your web hosting environment through the ISPConfig control panel.
